Re: 1970's Speakers For Vintage System

Nice selection of amps and sources. As for the speakers, don't forget KLH or vintage Klipsch. I recently acquired a pair of KLH Model 5s that easily rival my AR3a system. The mids are a bit more open and forward, imparting a somewhat cleaner sound. Bass honors, however, still go to the ARs. Your choice of speakers really depends on the type of sound you're after (warm, mellow, bright, etc) as each designer had his own ideas as to what a speaker should sound like. Also, to me, synergy with your present components is paramount. I have a pair of Klipsch Forte II that sound absolutely wonderful when paired with a Harman Kardon 730 Twin Powered Receiver, yet not nearly as good when teamed up with some of my other vintahe gear. Let your ears be your guide, and you won't go wrong. :-)
