Actually just read an old issue of Audio with Edward Tatnall Canby's comments on these, and an old issue of Radio Electronics with and article by Edgar Vilchur discussing the tweeter. (Don't have the issues at hand to give dates - sorry).
If memory serves, Canby had loved this Eico used in a mono system, but found it too diffuse in stereo. But restored some sense of image specificity by tilting record albums at a fourty five degree angle on top of the speaker to reflect more sound forward and less up. (Think of the howls that would greet such a suggestion nowadays -- no wonder audio is less fun than it used to be....) Vilchur liked the Hegeman 'Tulip' tweeters, but noted they were rather fragile, and Eico had some troubles with them being damaged in shipping. He also noted that the original version was actually made by rolling a sheet of graph paper, and so still had the blue lines all over.
I'd love to hear these, but not at the price being asked, alas.
