Re: Mono tuner questions...

As you already had indicated, there are some nice sounding, well respected, Scott tuners. I own a 310D with the optional 335 MPX adapter. It does a real nice job in stereo with the MPX adapter, but in mono, on my local jazz station, it just plain sings. The Sherwood 3000III I have sounds nice, but is not as sensitive as the Scott, and may be a little lacking detail wise, but in a nice way. It's shortcomings are more subtractive in nature rather than additive. I also have the MPX adapter for it too. Both tuners flat out sound better than any Dynaco FM3 that I have used or heard(factory assembled or kit made, and I still own one). I have not had the chance to audition any Fisher tuners, but from what I have read about them, they are supposed to be real nice sounding (and sensitive too). If you want to go the tube stereo route, a Mac MR71 is awfully nice sounding. I would like one, but have not found a nice one at a decent (affordable) price. Also, there was a Luxman unit that I heard that was really great sounding, unfortunately I don't remember the model number.
