Walter, I agree with most everything you say, as a tube preamp will have a hard time driving a power amp at times. But, I use a PAS-3 stock and drive a pair of Marchand's and I have no problems at all, in fact I find it has plenty of volume at the 10 o'clock position and no loss of lows or highs from a mismatch, or hum problems. Then I run into two tube amps. It just sounds great. I cross over at 800 hz.
