I just really like that Eico. I compared it to the Mark IIIs with a Dyna PAS preamp, but aside from the nice power of the Dynas, I felt the Eico sounds more beautiful. There's just something about that amp that really pleases my ear and is very satisfying to listen to.
I don't listen to much Rock at all, but even for Classical and Jazz, I'd prefer a better bass extension. I'm also hoping that by freeing the Eico from having to suply the bass power, it might sound even better (hard to imagine), with perhaps more powerful dynamics. I already have the MK.IIIs, so I'd like to use them.
Let me know if I have this straight:
-I need to find a way to split the Eico's preamp from its power amp.
-Then I insert a crossover after the pre (can somebody recommend a specific brand/model that would work here?).
-From the crossover I feed the treble/mids to the Eico's power section, and the bass to the Mk.IIIs.
-The Eico's outputs go to the Spendors.
-The Dyna's outputs go to a sub.
Right?
One sub or two? Does the bass need to be stereo?Or should I find a high efficiency integrated speaker that does it all? I'm afraid that might get very expensive quick, as I have Campagne taste on a beer budget.
Thanks again for the help.
Walter
