RE: Please recommend a vintage tube preamp.....

One that is also well respected, but unfortunately becoming expensive, is the Lafayette KT600. Another Stewart Hegeman creation, like the Citation I. It has been a long time since I heard one, but it was nice in a good system. Something to keep on the lookout for. It could also be fun to fabricate a copy without all the tone controls and equalization options.
