.. and the reason is their sonics, not simply their vintage. Despite their lack of published or online write-ups, many vintage items are very worthy, sonically.
What is so hard about switching or adjusting two units at the same time ? These Fishers have nice phono EQ, a bit better than Eico HF85 IMHO. Vinyl collectors will love Fisher 80C or 90C preamps. They have mixing abilities, very useable tone controls, and do not usually need all their coupling caps to be immediately replaced. Really, now, don't you all know the true sonic value of separate power supplies for each amp channel ? It's worth the effort for dual mono preamps, too. The separation, depth and soundstage, not to mention inner details and articulation, are immensely improved, compared to most stereo components. Stereo can sound great, too, please don't get me wrong. But, all else equal, dual mono amps and preamps are simply better. Even a stereo preamp mated to dual mono amps should better a stereo integrated.
BTW, for serious budgets, a ss stereo preamp is a good start with many tube amps. But, that's another story...
