The ST-70 also tends to be pretty stable in value, so as long as you don't do any weird mods to it, you can usually sell it for about what you paid. You'd need a pre-amp to go with it, and that's a whole 'nother set of choices, but a Dynaco PAS-3 or PAS-3X would be fine.
If you don't want to bother with separates, you can still pick up a working Dynaco SCA-35 integrated amp for around $180-225, depending on condition, and there are some other integrateds around that might provide similar price/performance.
