RE: Eico hf-85

You might want to try the phono section from the tape output section of the 130 into a separate line level input. The problem with the 130 is all in the line level amp. In the usual Scott tradition, they located the preamp 12AX7's right in the EMF of the power transformer. They were able to do that with the integrated amps because the phase inversion masked the noise, but in the preamp there is no following differential amp to eliminate the 60 cycle hum.

Anyway, you might want to audition that section in a more isolated way. As to what you can do to fix the line level preamp section, I guess it's up to you.
