Re: Eico HF-81 again: Holy Cow!!!!

Epador, I have an EICO ST40 whose power tranny gets VERY hot, but the paperwork (from EICO) for the thing says that the transformer SHOULD run hot. They say that the normal operating temp should be between 185-190. According to the construction manual the winding insulation is good for 225. Still though, that much heat just bothers me. But so far it hasn't seemed to have any detrimental effect.

By the way, my EICO also sounds surprisingly good. I was amazed when I first got the thing. I've done a lot of mods to mine and now it sounds even better. The detail is great and the thing has LOTS of punch. They're hard to beat all the denials to the contrary not withstanding.
