I wanted to do something like this several years ago but failed to find a suitable 12 inch woofer. I still can't find any in current production.
The Seas 27TBFC/G might be an appropriate tweeter. It can get pretty low without getting in trouble, and I like an alloy tweeter with a paper cone woofer. I use them in eight-inch (Seas CA22RNX) two-ways, crossing at about 2 k, first order series.
