It's quite room dependent.
In a smaller room, I could live happily with:
KLH 17
Boston A70 II
AR14
AR15
Boae 301 (first series)
JBL L-110 (oddly)
Polk Monitor 7
ADS L-710
Advents
PSB B15 or B25
KEF 103.2
A small sub would help with many of these.
In a large room:
Infinity RS2.5 with 4.5 electronic crossover, biamped
Stacked Advents
Bozak Symphony with an added super tweeter and reworked crossover
AR90
AR9
KEF 105 (early)
Snell A (first series)
Altec 19
A lot of the speakers for smaller rooms with a sub added.
