Congradulations on your purchase. The 2270 is a fine unit. Speaker selection in this price range is really a balancing act. What may work for one person may not be the best for another. What may help is to know your room size, front end (turntable, tape, CD player etc) that you use and listening preferences.

The suggestions that have made may all work for you depending on your own personal preferences. I own Vandersteen 2Ce speakers (which are currently used in a system with a vintage solid state Marantz amp), and am very pleased with them. However, they may not be the best match for you because of size, looks etc. Even the Vandersteen 1's are quite large for some rooms. The classic setup for the Marantz 2270 are the large Advents. I owned a pair of these in the mid seventies played on a 1070 integrated amp; the sound was terrific!! At the time I swore they sent out ambient aphrodisiac encoded waves as I must of made love to five or six dozen women on the bear rug in front of that set up. Excuse my sentimental nostalgia, but my sex life took a nasty down turn after that set up was swiped.

Now that I am married, and my philandering days are long past, I still enjoy the Marantz gear with speakers that have that warm sound to them. I have other systems, but when my wife is ready for some spoonin' she tends to set herself in front of the Marantz/Vandies. Even though the Vandies and the classic large Advent are quite different in design, they both share some sonic similiarities--lush, warm, bloomy, tight bass. They have some characteristics that make them superior to the Advents for hi-fi enthusiasts. Those characteristics may meen nothing to you.

Your tastes may be different then mine, hell for all I know you may not even like sex!! Let us know more about what other equipment you may have, etc. There are lot's of good choices.
