Only your ears can tell wich sounds better to you. Modern speakers sound different and will improve on some aspects of the sound. Many people in the vintage asylum feel it is not worth trading the narual midrange, musicality and full base of the better vintage speakers. One thing to note. Size matters, you will not get full base from a mini-monitor. If you want to move air, you need big woofers. Long-throw woofers can help, but distortion goes up.
