Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Maybe it's me..

or my 6BQ5/EL84 amps (including a Fisher X100), but i find them to be sweet and airy. I would not call them "honey colored". But that could possibly be achieved with how one refirbs and tubes the unit.

Also, unless one is using pretty efficient speakers with a low powered EL84-based PP, they're better suited to a smaller, near field listening environment.

Just my take.

Cheers, Marc
