Re: Good vintage solid state amp to drive ...

I own a McIntosh 2100, which I used to use before I got my now-retired PS Audio 200c. I was never exactly overwhelmed by its sonics. (I didn't buy it; it was left to me by a professor.) It's early solid state, and while it was not as bad as many of the ss amps from that period, it was still a big letdown after the McIntosh tube amps like the 275.

One thing I can say about it: it's unbelievably heavy; I'm talking hernia-inducing. It also looks like say, a 275, especially if you squint. ;-)
