RE: You miissed my point

E-Stat;

This all started when you stated, "Somehow I'm thinkin' that his (Airtime) budget isn't in the $1100 range."

I linked the Decware Audio site to relate that the wire used in their reference Styx speaker cables (Decware honestly shows this on the page) is part number m22759 silver coated copper wire. This wire can be obtained from several sources from .55 to .75 cents per foot which is in keeping with the original poster's (Airtime) budget.

Next, I demonstrated that this wire would in fact cost $110, NOT $1100 in keeping with Charlie's 25 foot run requirement. You then stated, "If Deckert is truly using the same cable, then he is enjoying quite a markup." To which I reaponded, "All cable manufacturers enjoy a big markup." I then went on to explain that there is more to cables than wire - Jackets, strain relief, heat shrink, terminations, shipping, advertising, and labor.....Let me add that they are made in the U.S.A. not some shithole where human rights violations are the norm. Im also sure this labor cost is for paying his employees a livable wage with benefits.

You say that Decware is "Clearly not a manufacturer." Maybe Steve and his crew don't manufacture cables in the pure sense, but I assure you that Decware is a manufacturer of top notch amps, preamps, and phono preamps among other things. I linked a video of them assembling one of their basic Zen amps. It's part one of 13 or 14.

I never said Nordost and others repackaged generic or cheap wire/cable, I'm sure they use very high quality wire. I merely implied that they in all likelyhood do not have their own blast furnace where they take the raw ingots at one end and turn them into cable at the other end.

Moving on. Next you ask; "Would you kindly tell us where you can find ANY cable (you pictured a Nordost) that looks even remotely like this?" When I did and showed pics of MG Audio Design, Goertz, and Verastarr, you then panned Goertz dismissively and stated that the Verastarr goes for $4900 for a eight foot pair. And Nordost Valhalla is cheap??? So, you said to, "Find us ANY cable that looks remotely like the Nordost." When I did you said, "You missed my point." Did I? You said find ANY one and I did find several.

Now you say, "Show me a generic cable (military spec number or not) for $.55/ft that offers Nordost performance." Hello McFly hello. I NEVER STATED THAT THE M22759 OFFERS Nordost performance! You seem to enjoy (not very effectively) putting words in my mouth. Anyone with a brain can go back and read these posts and come to that conclusion.

Clearly you are a Nordost fanboy - great! I happen to think they make a very good product as well. It may interest you to know that I do use Nordost interconnects in my system - One pair of Heimdall, and another Heimdall II. I think they are great, and offer a great value especially at the prices I was able to purchase them from Music Direct. I also have a pair of Decware interconnects and they are very good as well as the difference(s) are very subtle.

Also, missed in all this is the fact that Airtime (the original poster) thanked me and said he may look into the smaller gauges of the m22759 wire for ICs as well. I just hope that he isn't spurned for doing so, as they may not sound as good as the Tyre, Heimdall, or Frye.......Or maybe they will.
