....and as if that weren't bad enough, the single mains transformer on this stereo version has been known to get real toasty, drip wax, and fail...Yes, this unit is at least two steps removed from the venerable, if not revered, TL12. Electrolytics not paper/oil, EL34's not KT66's, resistors not choke filtering, metal caps gone. Production costs got to them I think, keeping up an OLD design while trying to go stereo - not to mention their gawdawful SS gear was close at hand.... But never mind, a nice piece of history with a fine pedigree all the same. And there are mods out there for the PS - but I was advised long ago, by guys of that era, not to bother with them too much - just enjoy .
