RE: Eico HF-81, Heathkit UA-2

Hi David. The idea was to keep the UA-2's as monoblocks and change 2 of them to the output stage of the HF-81. The killer iron on the Heaths might pick up the Eico's slightly rolled frequency extremes. Also the benefits of the monoblocks might be an improvement. The UA-2 uses a 6an8 triode pentode and the HF-81 dual triodes.

The idea was to try and improve on the HF-81 and run without an active preamp for CD etc. The extra chassis space could be used for oil caps etc. I have 3 of the HF-81's.
