The goal of The Smaller Advent was to have the same voice and response as the original. It comes very close. It sacrificed a bit of low end and efficiency but on the other hand being 4 ohm vs 8 and that SS amps had more power at 4 ohms, the speaker ,are up for the efficiency difference. Henry stated he achieved his goal as the speakers sound the same period his advertising claims. But, this claim proved true only when connected to a few amps. Most amps in this shootout test show their 8 vs 4 ohm delivery capability is. It quite the same sonicly. Surprisingly, I discovered the lowly Radio Shack STA2250 receiver to work better than any other amp I have tried. The test reviews did find the 2250 was rock stable intl 2 ohms and more stable than most amps tested that had claimed to be stable into 2 ohms. One reason I try to stay away from speakers less than 8 ohms, nominal impedance.
The Smaller I like better than the originals. The midrange issue is not evident and as the drivers are closer there is better integration of and less smearing. I have not found the Smaller to be too small for larger rooms. In truth, I think they were made to satisfy apartment and dorm room buyers.
