I bought mine new in 1970. They've been on everything from an EICO 20 wpc receiver originally through a couple of Technics receivers up to 55 wpc, Yamaha RX-596 - 80wpc and a Dynaco ST-120 at 60 wpc.
Currently, they are fed by a refreshed, but not modified, Dynaco PAS-3X and an early Van Alstine MOS-FET 150. There's no rolled-off anything.
At the time I bought them reports said they needed a lot of power to drive them to a "loud" volume (whatever "loud" is) but I've never found that to be the case.
They've been used with all kinds of program material, classical through heavy metal and movies with exploding planets and almost sub-sonic battle cruisers. The bass will shake your sternum.
I've never had to drive anything to clipping to make the A-25's play at any desired loudness. I've never noticed that the volume control had to be set higher for the A-25's than anything else.
There's been no lack of treble once I got into equipment of reasonable quality. The tweeter attenuator switches have been centered ever since I got past the Technics receivers.
I once felt that they were weak in the upper-mids, which I've seen mentioned elsewhere, but once I got them on some decent equipment that perception went away.
This just demonstrates my lack of high-end experience, but my other system is the Yamaha RX-596 with a pair of Boston Acoustics CR-9's. Either one can make me say "Wow" with the proper program material.
