Thanks to Steve Eddy for technical assistance. Henceforth, I've dubbed it the SE-1. (hope you don't take that as an insult, Steve!) BTW, adding the 8k (er actually a 10k) resistor to the linear pot worked like you suggested. I'm enjoying it as I write this.
Coolness! Glad it's working well for you. And not insulted at all. Though I think you're selling yourself a bit too short. All I did was draw you a simple schematic. How 'bout giving yourself a bit more credit and call it the SE-Stat 1? We can have joint custody of the E. :)
