Mine was also primarily Radio Shack parts, done as a temporary measure. I used two audio-taper ALPS pots (which simplified things), and I hard-wired the input and output cables (home-made cables with Radio Shack connectors) rather than using RCA jacks. My cables are solid core 30 gauge magnet wire wound double-helix around 7/32 cotton rope, and covered with yellow teflon tape. Sounds pretty good considering the very modest investment in parts and time.
