there's always rewiring the tonearm with better quality wire. You could probably substitute better feet for the originals. Something I've done on my '1200 is to apply damping sheets to the underside of the platter. I used Dynamat Xtreme on the'1200 because of the stronger motor so I'd stick with the regular (lighter) on the SL-D2. Simple stuff that's not expensive.
