Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I'm in the process of adding room treatment to my great room. I dont have a dedicated room and my listening area is in a large open space including the kitchen, tv room and hallways. It's not the best scenario, but i have to work with the space i have.
My ceilings are vaulted, 11' at the highest area, sloping down to 9'
I sent an advice form and photos of my listening area to GIK Acoustics. The person helping me said it would be a challenge to treat based on space limitations, but suggested i use an SPL meter to measure sound levels in different areas of the room.
Is there a particular brand of SPL meter thats fairly accurate? I've also heard of using room equalizer software.
Thanks.
