"Does everyone with a stereo need to have a few hundred dollars' worth of receptacles to get good sound?"It is not a question of need, nobody needs it, nobody needs a high-end audio system, we want it. We want to try and improve it for our own benefit. Why is that many who poo-poo tweaks, cable and the like always complain about the cost? It's not your money, why do you care? Are you trying to save us from ourselves or the bad, bad, evil "snake oil" pushers?
It would be more helpful if we focus on how these items sound in real time, in our own systems than to focus on what price they command. It it weren't for experimentation, we would not be in this hobby, most have done lots of it, me included with over 40 years.
