I compared Vampire XLR cable plugs to Neutrik, and the quality of Vampire is much better. Now I use Vampire chassis XLR connectors, as well. I have never directly compared to Neutrik in that format, but I assume the same characteristics, such as a smoother finish on the pins and sockets, and better basic materials, are present.
Reasonably priced at Parts Connexion, but they don't have any esoteric designer cred.
