risk assessment

Sorry that you learned a lesson the hard way. Thanks for posting this cautionary tale.

Were they listed as new parts? Report them and get a refund. Does anyone believe the Chinese, or anyone else, has a way to make parts magically materialize at virtually zero cost?

How much is your stereo worth? 6K? 10K? How much does one save by buying reclaimed parts that have possibly been damaged and would make your system sound awful if they even work or break something if they don't? Three dollars each?

Opamps are probably the component most sensitive to static discharge, and are nearly the most sensitive to heat from unsoldering. Even if these are genuine parts, what are the odds that they still perform to anywhere near spec?

Infrequently, I buy items on eBay from Chinese sources if they are not readily available domestically, but I would never trust them to sell me an opamp that I can get brand new from a legitimate distributor for a few bucks.

Peace,
Tom E
