Glad your cable mod worked out. Replacing Neutrik connectors is always a good thing. I don't know how they became the industry standard. I guess "industry" is the key word there. Vampire XLR's are superior in every way.Perhaps I'll give the Chinese stuff a try. I wonder what the odds are that they really have platinum anywhere on them, and, if so, how that makes them sound better. I don't know of any other manufacturer that uses platinum for its sonic qualities. It does make them very shiny, and it is a little cheaper than gold or rhodium. Do any reputable parts houses sell them, or are they available only on ebay? That might be an indicator of their legitimacy. I don't put much credence in item descriptions there, especially if something originates in HK or China. I can't help but wonder why the Chinese are eager to give away precious metals.
If they sound good, they pass the ultimate test.
Peace,
Tom E
