You're right

"how he expected it to sound - as he has done many, many times."

Exactly. That's why I broached the topic of bias.

After auditioning quite a few connectors, we're all aware that they do sound different. I try to remain neutral about how they sound until I actually listen to them. Even then, bias can be a factor. It's impossible to overcome if its existence is not even acknowledged, especially when our money is involved.

One person was admonished because he was the one who complained to the mod. I also received a warning, and I let the subject drop until these later posts were made. Now I feel it's necessary to defend my perspective and original intent. Had I known it was going to escalate to this level, I never would have undertaken the topic.

Inmates are free to value the opinion of someone who predicts the outcome of an experiment before it's even begun. How many of us would trust a reviewer who speculated and did the same thing? Dave, you stated that you have been surprised more than once. Most of us have, despite all our knowledge and previous experience. All I ask is that people who discuss the sound of a component at least wait until after they've heard it before offering their opinion, and make an attempt to perform an impartial experiment.

Peace,
