I didn't ask for proof of anything, and I never have. I understand that's not why we're here. I casually mentioned expectation bias, which should be of interest to everyone. I wasn't trying to start an argument; I was trying to qualify the objectivity of someone who evaluates and posts about a lot of stuff. When anyone expects the result of an experiment, that result is more likely to occur. That was never acknowledged, which is why I pursued it. In fact, it was disputed. Otherwise, I gladly would have moved on. I didn't intend to be aggressive or make anyone uncomfortable, but I wasn't ready to accept blithe dismissal of an important concept.
Yes, we all anticipate what any component might contribute to our system and make purchases accordingly, but most people don't post conclusions in advance of an actual audition. I think experimenters should make an effort to guard against bias, or at least concede that it might exist. If they don't or cannot, then their conclusions should be questioned.
Those who post opinions in public forums should expect and accept challenges and disagreements. Impartial investigation and consideration of conflicting views is what advances knowledge. Defensiveness and authoritarian attitudes lead to useless skirmishes.
Peace,
