I see now the filter is both a common mode and a differential mode filter. No wonder it sounds good. It probably does a fantastic job of addressing conducted noise on the line.
However, and I hate to always be *that* guy but I have a bad feeling about both L4 and the switched Earth.
My concern is: I don't know if that would be considered code compliant here in my locale. I'm not a huge expert on code but I can say that in a lightning strike L4 might get somebody hurt or get some gear blown up depending on it's inductance. I really don't like the idea that L4 might cause the neutral and earth lines to have huge potential differences but can't say for sure if it is forbidden. Switches on the earth line are certainly something my inspector would frown upon.
