I wouldn't take the statement to seriously. I know he uses lots of capacitance in the power supplies and transformers that could provide enough current for a larger output amp. There are micro demands that might surprise. Very short periods where the demand on the amp is quite high. I think 1 1/2 to 2 times the textb.ok requirement should b. enough.
