Crossover upgrade recommended

I owned the same model 802's and bought the North Creek xovers 25 years ago. They were worth every penny, but could be improved even more.

You can request a pdf copy of the 802S2 documentation from B&W, including a full schematic of the xover and the entire speaker assembly.

Replace the tweeter caps and midrange caps and you're more than halfway done. Use the best film caps you can afford, not Solens or similar crap. Also replace the electrolytics, either with new, better 'lytics or jump up to films which will cost a lot and be huge. Better inductors are nice but crazy expensive and take a lot of space so you'll need to mount xovers outboard, which isn't a bad idea anyway. Resistors can also be improved for not much money but offer not quite as dramatic an improvement. I suggest Caddock for neutrality with their own heatsinks. Mills are overrated.

Peace,
Tom E
