Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ.

Similar experience

I have tried most tweaks over the years and have found some to work and some not to. Some that worked - better speaker cables, dedicated lines, power conditioning, nuance shelves, CD cleaners and replacing an ancient outlet with a hospital grade receptacle. Some that didn't - crystals, pig tails, bi-wiring my Proac's, and passive power devices. Most recently I "untweaked", removing a vibration damping pad from my amplifier I actually forgot i had. I found it had over damped the high frequencies and after it was removed I got a little better response on the high end. Go figure.

As always these things are system dependent and a function of how "big" you think a change is. Sometimes its just different and not better or worth pursuing. I have found the best tweak is to hunt through your music collection and play a well recorded old favorite - that will perk up your system more than most tweaks.
