Couple of simple things you could try. Replace the power cord plug with one using copper or gold contacts. Replace the internal wiring from the circuit board to the binding post with copper wire if it's using tinned wire and replace the stock binding posts with some gold ones. The cheap nickel-plated parts they use (power delivery/signal path) have very poor conductivity compared to brass/copper/gold and this affects the sound. No need to break the bank here. Even entry level upgrade parts are better than the stock stuff.
