I built my second set of these. The idea this time was: 1)try the 100 vs 120 ohm resistor value; 2) Get "better" cap values than my first build; 3) use a board and p-box for a permanent build unlike my first one's.
I found a nice little 2" X 3" p-box, got some prototyping board which I cut to size and tied down the caps on a small piece of deflex w/wire ties to reduce any vibration. I still haven't found a good source for "good" X-caps in the .47,.047,.0047 value sequence. I used a 1,.47,.1 with the new 100 ohm value. In putting the board in the p-box I had it sit on two "rails" of deflex to again reduce vibration. End result is these outdo the first build by a lot. HF is not as "boosted" if you will on the second build. It does make the system brighter than w/o but the HF is also more detailed and less offensive and brash. It is much easier to hear small details in all recordings. These are cheap and easy to build. I recommend everyone give them a go. Thanks again Al!
