Well noise is the enemy of a good power supply, so you want to get rid of as much of it as you can. The less noise the better IMO, that is why when modding my cd player I treid to give each section its own little power supply, and kep the analog and digital section seperate. In a cd player you want to keep all that digital noise out of the analoge sections. Im not as familiar with amplifiers or tubes, but I would think you want as clean a power supply as you can possibly get within reason. Should be easier in a tube amp then a cd player since you dont have a bunch of digiotal circuits mixed with analogue cuircuits in the same case. good luck!
