Do you have a dac connected to your laptop?? I have my pc connected to my system too, but even with a Soundblaster XFI soundcard it sounds pretty crappy. I just keep a cd player for the summer, its to hot to run the computer just to listen to a cd, and call me old fashion(im only 27) but I kinda like popping a disk in better than clicking on files?? I am thinking of building a DAC kit, that way I could use it with my computer and use my cheapy dvd player as a transport. But I still have soft spot in my heart for the Marantz players. They just sound so good when modded, I think its that DAC, it doesnt have a crappy sounding built in opamp like most of the newer dacs, so you can choose a much better part, while newer dacs your stuck with whats on the chip. Thanks for the warning about the Toshiba, I had a feeling its not that great, Even if people around here claim its a giant killer with justa few cap and opamp changes. it took more than that to get an already good player like the cd63se to sound great.
