Re: Rise time

There is a difference between rise-time and slew-rate. Rise-time is the effective bandwidth of the circuit. It is essentially the same at both low and high levels, and is essentially 'distortion' free within the bandwidth. Slew-rate is caused by limiting and ultimately clipping a stage in the amp, and usually only occurs at high levels. Therefore, it is possible to have a circuit with both a fast rise-time and a low slew-rate. Many IC op amps have this property. The best of all worlds is to have the slew-rate so fast that you rise-time limit only. Most of my designs attempt to do this.
