RE: I would disagree

"Most materials are diagmagnetic to a degree. Continuous exposure to a current will eventually slowly reorient the molecular structure to a certain degree. That's why those CD and LP demagnetizers work, if any one has taken the time to try them. You can duplicate the same effect with a hand held degausser ( I use a Geneva 2800 gauss degausser sold for tape erasing). Theoretically , the vinyl LP and the CD should be immune from the effects of a degausser."

Yeah, but how does that improve the sound? CDs/lasers are an optical system and the pits and lands on the disc are mechanically locked. Degaussing the aluminum in a CD doesn't magically change the bits and bytes. If you have a missing bit, or a hole in the reflective layer, degaussing doesn't restore it. What does CIRC (Reed-Solomon) do? Huh?

You can count all the bits and bytes on a CD, "degauss" it and then count them again. What changed? Nothing digitally!
