Got some lego parts? You need three plastic gears, two the same size and one smaller. Glue the big ones to the backs of the volume knobs. Use gears slightly smaller than the knobs so they will not show. Find a smaller one that will contact the bigger ones and put a screw through it for the hub. Shim it for mesh and use a washer with sufficient bling to match the rest of your creation to cover the center gear. Something cryo'd might be a bit much but a section of a hologram might do.
