Nice. I have found proved to myself that the pot's sonic signature becomes less important if it is connected as shunt. Using a Vishay 102, very good sound can be obtained. One has to watch the variable impedance.
Yup. And since I routinely use input transformers and will be using this typically as the secondary load resistance, I need that constant impedance.
Over the years I've tried just about every fixed resistor out there for secondary loading and for me I've always had the best results with carbon comps.
Just something about Permalloy and carbon that does it for me. :)
So when I started trying different attenuators to hitch on to the secondary of the input transformers I use, I wasn't too surprised that the PEC carbon comps beat out everything else I'd tried.
