au contraire se, its not a traditional UPS. its specifically designed for audio / video, not PCs or the like.the xs provides a constant 120/60 to my components through filtering / manipulation (how, i dont know--have to read the manual, and i'm tired right now), even during wild fluctuations from the wall (or during a power outage). if what the original poster meant was pure dc, point taken. but fwiw, the xs beats the pants off a normal UPS.
