Hi
Battery power is great, but you have to watch out for a few things.
Fistly on most important, you batteries should be the sealed type. Lead-accid batteries like car batteries produce toxic gasses when charged or decharged, which isn't a problem in open air, but which can be in a living room (same goes for forklift batterys).Charging should be done by a good charger (current limiter) and a charger for every seperate battery. This because when one battery is more discharged then an other (eg sub needs more power then tweeter channel) then his voltage is a few volts lower. When you try to charge them in parallell, you create a short circuit with way to large current. This can destroy the battery and in really severe cases even make it explode (the accid start boiling). So one charger per batterie is the way to go.
Always decouple the WHOLE charging circuit when listening to your music, not only the AC.
Always put a decent foil cap in parallell with your batteries (look for a large one like a 10µF MKT or better MKP) For a power amp put a high quality eloc in parallell (100µF) and also a high quality fiol cap (10µF). The use of a very high quality foil (polystyreen 100nF) can open up thing even further.
For charging circuit look at the datasheets of the LM317 stabileser (this one can also be used as an lead-accid battery charger)
Hope this puts you on the way
Greetz
