as i picked up a XS Tech Strata 1000 used after production was stopped. this unit has 6 outlets running off 2 SLA batteries that are in continuous charge so long as the AC is plugged in.I don't think that's quite what he meant by "battery power." Using something like a UPS still leaves you with a 120 volt AC signal which still must be stepped up/down, rectified, filtered, etc. What he means by "battery power" is to directly supply the component's DC power with batteries, completely eliminating the component's AC-sourced power supply.
