If I walk into a Home Depot or my local electrical supply house and buy a name brand outlet, I will find a UL stamp on it. I don't need to question that because these electrical companies are legitimate businesses and their products are widely used and well known. This is further evidenced by their approval by countless local building inspectors.
Audiophile companies have a bad reputation for selling snake oil. They offer no technical or engineering specifications for their products. It is also a fact that most of the audiophile companies are tiny operations who cannot afford the costs of UL listing.
What they do is to buy standard electrical outlets and re-plate the metal as well as cryo them in some cases. The UL stamp remains as it's stamped into molded into the plastic. This practice is not only deceptive, it's down right illegal.
