Finished A Pair Of Cabines. Questions About Tablesaws

I just finished cutting out a pair of cabinets for my daughters stereo system. Medium sized bookshelves, 17" tall by 10"deep and 11.5" wide. Corners are mitered and front and back plates are rabbitted flush. Used 3/4 inch particle board because this is a trial pair, and adequate for a 14 year olds bedroom system.

Ok my table saw is a hand me down from my dad. It looks to be an old 80's ear craftsman 10 inch saw. The blade measures true. But the fence is another matter. Its got a screw handle thats compresses a flange on the other side of the fence to tightern it down. Getting a true rip on it seems impossible. These cabinets I have built do have some imperfections in the corners. Less than a 1/32 gap I am going to ahve to fill before finishing. I suspect its from less than perfect fence alignment. I believe my feeding skills were pretty darn good, but of course practice makes perfect. But I was working with 1/2 sheets of material, so the first feeds were always the most difficult.

My question is what is a good basic table saw, and what would the cost be. Your recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Regards
Mister Pig
