Actually, this would need no compression, rather, the type of polyester batting I speak of as high-loft and for use as covering or the main material has a density of about 0.5 to 0.7 lbs. per cubic foot, so yours is denser yet. It may even reflect some of the upper mids/lower highs, compared to the less dense material. Probably not a big issue of that is all you can find. If you can find less dense material use it for the outer layer to be sure and absorb the most HF's.Here the issue would be thickness, if you want to duplicate the results of fiberglass, then at least three layers would be needed, and 4 or 5 would be better still.
If using an outer layer of less dense material, then it and two layers of the other at a minimum.
