Jon: Will I benefit from your power transformer project?

Jon: A question about your power transformer recipe.

As you know, I am more than willing to try your DIY projects to improve sound. I did them even when I did not realize that a problem existed, such as the sound treatments and the speaker cables. However I am lacking a fundamental understanding of what you are trying to do with this project. I do not understand this one as well as I did the other projects.

So my question is: How do I know if I can benefit by this project? Or will I notice a result no matter what? Where will this 10 dB of noise come from?

I do not have any hum in any of my equipment. The pre amp is silent unless I turn it to insane levels. I am using two separate Panamax line conditioners (the 1000+ and the 500), and a Newpoint Theater Master 5000 (a piece of junk compared to the Panamax units, but ok as a surge suppressor).

I look forward to your answer.

Samir
